Reflectly alternatives: six honest options for 2026
By Bekir Çağrı Çelik, founder of Architect · Updated October 10, 2026
We build Architect, one of the six options below. Every fact about another app on this page comes from that company's own pages or app-store listing, checked on October 10, 2026 unless a note says otherwise, and each card links its source. Anything we couldn't verify, we left out.
Reflectly is a gentle, mood-first journal: AI-guided prompts, mood tracking, widgets, and a free version with in-app purchases. So the right alternative depends on what you want to do differently. To write freely and be answered by a mentor that quotes your own dated words, Architect is built for that. For an AI coach with a free plan, Reflection. For warm, guided support with CBT-style journals, Rosebud. For morning and evening routines, Stoic. For one journal on every platform at a low annual price, Journey. For mood tracking with no AI at all, Daylio.
Reflectly is not Reflection, a different app with a similar name. All prices below were checked on October 10, 2026.
What Reflectly does well
Reflectly (made by Kodeon, Inc.) describes itself as a journal that uses AI to help you structure and reflect on your daily thoughts. It has mood tracking, customizable prompts, daily motivation quotes, home-screen widgets and daily, weekly and monthly overviews, and its App Store listing says it draws on positive psychology, mindfulness and CBT techniques.
It is free to download, and the free version covers a lot; Premium unlocks unlimited entries, advanced statistics, actionable insights and daily personalized reflection questions. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android. If Reflectly is working for you, the best alternative may be to stay.
Why people look for a Reflectly alternative
Before the list, one question: what made you start looking? A different kind of reply, a free plan with more AI, no AI at all, or a clearer price? The answer picks the app faster than any table.
- You would rather write freely and be answered. Reflectly's listing describes customizable prompts, mood tracking and daily reflection questions; it is led by prompts and check-ins. If you want to put down what is actually on your mind and have an AI answer what you wrote, look at Rosebud, Reflection or Architect.
- You want a free plan that still includes AI. Reflection's free plan includes unlimited entries and a daily allowance of AI coaching; Journey's free tier has 10 AI questions a day; on Architect, writing is free forever with 11 mentor responses to start and then one a week.
- You want the mood data without the AI. Daylio tracks mood and activities with statistics and charts, has no AI features, and says it does not send your entries to its servers.
- You want to see the price before you download. We couldn't find Reflectly's prices on its own site, and its App Store listing shows in-app purchases without billing periods, so we don't quote a number. Reflection ($8 a month), Rosebud ($12.99 a month) and Architect ($33 a month) publish theirs.
The alternatives
1. Architect
Architect (formerly The Architect) is a private journal with a mentor attached. You write or speak; the mentor reads the entry against a dated selection of what you wrote before (recent entries, plus selected dated facts and callbacks from older ones) and answers with the question you were circling, often with your own words from weeks ago beside it. It is built to push back rather than reassure, which is a different posture from a gentle, mood-first app: four mentor voices (The Architect, The Sage, The Mystic and The Billionaire) plus one you design on the paid plan. It works in English, Turkish and Spanish, and entries are encrypted on your device before they sync. What it doesn't have: mood charts, guided programs, or native phone apps yet. It runs in your browser, and at $33 a month it costs more than most apps on this page.
Price: Writing free forever. 11 mentor responses to start, then 1 a week free. $33/mo, $299/yr or $9.99/wk
Runs on: Web app in any browser, phone or desktop; added to the home screen it opens full screen. No native iPhone or Android app yet
2. Reflection
Reflection is an AI journaling app and coach. Its coach asks follow-up questions built from the entry you just wrote, "Ask Your Journal" answers questions from your whole history, there is a two-way Voice Call, and there are more than 100 guided journeys. The free plan includes unlimited entries and a daily allowance of AI coaching; Premium is $8 a month. More: Reflection alternatives.
Price: Free plan with a daily AI allowance; Premium $8/mo or $69/yr; 7-day trial
Runs on: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, web
3. Rosebud
Rosebud responds while you write, with a "Dig Deeper" mode, guided journals developed in partnership with mental health professionals, weekly reports, and on paid plans long-term memory. It works in 17 languages by its help center's count (18 on its App Store page) and offers five preset personas, including one called the Challenger. It has had no free plan since September 30, 2026. More: Rosebud alternatives.
Price: Bloom $12.99/mo or $107.99/yr; heavier-use Thrive tiers in the mobile apps. No free plan from Sep 30, 2026, per its help center
Runs on: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, web (a companion to the mobile apps)
4. Stoic
Stoic is built around preparing for the day in the morning and reflecting on it at night, with guided journals, breathing and meditation, and trends for mood and sleep. Its AI plan adds ten AI mentors, from "Motivating Marcus" to "Supportive Seneca". One thing to know before switching: the iOS and Android versions don't sync with each other. More: Architect vs Stoic.
Price: Free plan; Premium and Premium + AI subscriptions, priced in the app; $299 lifetime Premium on iOS
Runs on: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android, web (no sync between iOS and Android)
5. Journey
Journey runs on Windows and Linux as well as Apple devices, Android and the web. Its Odyssey AI answers questions from your past entries, there are more than 60 guided coach programs, and optional end-to-end encryption on Journey Cloud Sync uses your own passphrase (the AI chat is not available on encrypted drives).
Price: Free tier (70 MB and 60 entries on Journey Cloud Sync, 10 AI questions a day); Membership $6.99/mo or $49.99/yr; $199 lifetime on iOS
Runs on: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows, Linux, web
6. Daylio
Daylio is a mood tracker and micro-diary: you pick a mood and the activities of the day, add a note if you like, and it turns the pattern into statistics and charts, with a Year in Pixels view. It has no AI features, and it says it doesn't send your entries to its servers.
Price: Free; Premium subscriptions, which the App Store lists from $4.99 to $59.99 (billing periods not shown)
Runs on: iPhone, iPad, Android

How to choose
- You like the gentle, mood-first start and want to keep it: stay with Reflectly.
- You want to write freely and be answered, with a mentor that pushes back: Architect. An AI coach on a free plan: Reflection.
- You want warmth and guided programs: Rosebud. You want a daily routine: Stoic.
- You want it on every device you own: Journey. You want mood data and no AI: Daylio.
Whichever you try, run the same test on it: write down a specific commitment with a date, come back a few days later, write something related without mentioning it, and see whether the app brings it back. What memory in an AI journal actually means explains the test.
