Why do chatbots get birth charts wrong?
A chatbot predicts likely text. Unless it’s connected to an ephemeris — astronomical data that gives where each planet was on any date — it isn’t calculating anything; it’s writing something that sounds like a chart, and the signs and degrees can be off without any warning. This page does the calculation: every position comes from the date, time and place you enter.
Do I need my birth time?
Not for your Sun, Moon and planets. Without a time we calculate for noon, so a placement right at the edge of a sign can land in the neighboring one — most often the Moon, which moves about 13° a day. Your Rising sign, Midheaven and houses do depend on the exact time — the Rising sign changes about every two hours — so they’re shown only when you give one. A birth certificate is the best source; if your time is approximate, treat those placements as approximate too.
Which house system does this use?
Whole-sign houses. Your Rising sign is your first house, the next sign is the second, and so on around the wheel. It’s one of the oldest systems and one of the simplest to read. Other systems, such as Placidus, divide the houses differently, so a planet can sit in another house there.
What does the mentor do with my chart?
If you take your chart to your mentor, it uses it only when it’s relevant to what you’re writing about. It isn’t a daily horoscope and it doesn’t predict anything: astrology is one language for reflecting on your life, and you decide what fits.
