An AI mentor app, not a chatbot

By The Architect team · Last updated

We make Architect. Everything this page says about the mentors was checked against the app itself on October 17, 2026.

The short answer

Architect is an AI mentor that lives inside a private journal. You write or speak what is on your mind; the mentor answers what you actually wrote, reads it next to a dated selection of your earlier entries, and asks the question you were circling. It is built to push back, not to agree with you.

Four mentors come with every plan: The Architect, The Sage, The Mystic and The Billionaire. Paying members can also describe a mentor of their own.

What a mentor that knows your story does differently

A general chatbot is built to answer whatever you ask, about anything. A mentor in a journal is built around one thing: your own record, kept with dates. That changes what a reply can do.

  • It starts from your pages, not a blank prompt. Each reply reads today's entries first, then up to ten recent ones, with short dated notes and lines from older entries.
  • It quotes you back, with the date. When today's entry echoes an old one, the mentor can set your earlier line beside it. The quote is copied from your entry and shown with its date. How the memory works.
  • It pushes back. You choose how hard: Gentle, Balanced, Direct or Ruthless. Every mentor starts gentle with someone new and grows into the level you chose as it gets to know you.
  • It keeps one point of view. Each mentor has its own philosophy, so the voice you choose stays the same from one entry to the next.

The four mentors

Each is a voice with a philosophy, not an imitation of a famous person. Their lines below are the ones the app shows when you choose.

  • The Architect. "The adaptive default. Learns you and becomes the mentor you need."
  • The Sage. "Tao + Zen + the wisdom of presence. Witnesses without fixing. The third option between alone and abandoned."
  • The Mystic. "Hermetic, Jungian, Sufi, Vedantic. Meets you in your cosmology — energy, lunar, sacred. Holds the both/and." The one to pick if you think in signs and symbols; it can work with your birth chart.
  • The Billionaire. "Polymath. Counterargument first. No validation, no flattery, explicit confidence levels. Generates own numbers."
  • Your own (paid plan). Custom Persona: describe the tone, philosophy and approach you want, polish it if you like, and save it.

Ways to use them

  • Switch mid-conversation when you want a different angle on the same problem.
  • Ask for a second opinion. Right after a reply, See it through another lens asks one of the other mentors to answer the same entry. One per entry, on every plan, counted as one reply.
  • Listen to any reply read aloud, or open the Sitting (beta) and talk it through out loud, hands-free.

What it isn't

Architect is not therapy and not a crisis service. It does not diagnose or treat anything. It is a private place to think clearly and decide better when you are not in crisis. If you are in crisis, contact a licensed professional or your local emergency number.

It is also not a companion app built to keep you company. The mentor's job is to help you see your own pattern, and sometimes that means saying what you would rather not hear.

Free and paid

All four mentors are on every plan. Writing is free, and every entry saves. The free plan includes 11 full mentor replies, then one reply every 7 days. No card is needed.

The paid plan is $33 a month, $299 a year, or $9.99 a week. It adds your own Custom Persona, replies with no daily cap, Ask The Architect (questions answered from your whole journal) and Insights.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an AI mentor and a chatbot?
A chatbot is built to answer whatever you ask. An AI mentor in a journal is built around your own record: it reads each entry next to a dated selection of what you wrote before, can quote your earlier words back with their dates, and pushes back instead of agreeing. Architect's mentors also each keep one point of view.
Which mentors does Architect have?
Four, on every plan: The Architect (the adaptive default), The Sage (presence, witnessing without fixing), The Mystic (meets you in your own cosmology) and The Billionaire (counterargument first, no flattery). The paid plan adds a Custom Persona you describe yourself.
Can I switch mentors?
Yes. Choose one in Settings, Your Mentor, or switch in the middle of a conversation. Right after any reply, See it through another lens asks a different mentor for a second opinion on the same entry.
Is an AI mentor a replacement for therapy?
No. Architect is not therapy and does not diagnose or treat anything. It is a private place to think and decide when you are not in crisis. If you are in crisis, contact a licensed professional or your local emergency number.
Is Architect free?
Writing is free, and every entry saves. The free plan includes 11 full mentor replies, then one reply every 7 days. No card is needed. The paid plan is $33 a month, $299 a year, or $9.99 a week, and adds a Custom Persona, replies with no daily cap, Ask The Architect and Insights.
