A journaling app with your birth chart

By The Architect team · Last updated

We make Architect. Everything this page says about the chart and the mentors was checked against the app and the calculator on October 17, 2026.

The short answer

Architect is a private AI journal that keeps your birth chart. The chart is computed from a real ephemeris, not guessed: make yours free at the birth chart calculator, with no account, and ask the Architect one question about it. In the app, your mentor keeps the chart in hand and brings it in when it fits what you write.

For a mentor who speaks that language, choose The Mystic, which meets you in your own cosmology. Astrology here is a lens for looking at your life, not a forecast.

The birth chart

  • Your big three, Sun, Moon and Rising, each to the degree and minute, and all eight planets from Mercury to Pluto with sign and degree.
  • With a birth time, your Midheaven and every body's house too (whole-sign houses). Without one, the chart is calculated for noon, Rising and houses are left out rather than guessed, and you get a note if your Moon sits near the edge of a sign.
  • Computed, not written. Positions come from an open-source astronomy library, in the tropical zodiac, with your birthplace's time-zone rules on that date, daylight time included.
  • Free and private. No account. Your birth details are used only to compute the chart, and nothing is saved unless you sign up.
The free birth chart calculator on a phone, for a demo birth date of June 14, 1994 at 07:20 in Chicago: Sun in Gemini 23°13′, Moon in Leo 23°55′, Rising in Cancer 19°33′, and a card titled Ask the Architect what your chart means for you, with three suggested questions.
The calculator, with a demo birth date. Tap a question, or write your own; the first answer is free.

Once the chart is on screen, ask one question. The Architect reads your actual placements and answers in a few short paragraphs, ending with a question back to you. To keep talking, create a free account: the chart and that exchange come with you as your first journal entry.

Your Saturn return. The Saturn return calculator gives every date Saturn comes back to where it was when you were born, retrograde passes included, computed from a real ephemeris. It needs only your birth date, and the Architect answers one question about yours, free, with no account.

How the chart lives in your journal

  • In the app, open the Architecture tab, then The Sky You Were Born Under, then Chart my sky. A chart you made on the website is already there after sign-up.
  • Your mentor keeps it in hand. It brings the chart into a reply only when it fits what you wrote.
  • The Mystic is the mentor for this. In the app's words: "Hermetic, Jungian, Sufi, Vedantic. Meets you in your cosmology — energy, lunar, sacred. Holds the both/and." Choose it in Settings, Your Mentor. All four mentors.
  • The rest of the journal stays a journal. The mentor still reads what you wrote with its dates, and can bring back an old line when today's entry echoes it. For a practice to start with, try the moon journaling guide.

Free and paid

The chart, the Architecture tab and The Mystic are on every plan. Writing is free, and every entry saves. The free plan includes 11 full mentor replies, then one reply every 7 days. No card is needed. The paid plan is $33 a month, $299 a year, or $9.99 a week.

Whatever you write about your chart stays private: your entries are encrypted on your device, and the company can't read them. What that means in practice.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a journaling app with a birth chart?
Yes. Architect is a private AI journal that computes your birth chart from a real ephemeris and keeps it in the app, where your mentor brings it in when it fits what you write. The chart calculator on its website is free and needs no account.
How accurate is the birth chart?
It is calculated, not generated as text: planet positions come from an open-source astronomy library, in the tropical zodiac, with your birthplace's time-zone rules on that date. With a birth time it adds your Rising sign, Midheaven and whole-sign houses.
Do I need my birth time?
No. Without it, the chart is calculated for noon. Your Sun and planets hold; Rising, Midheaven and houses are left out rather than guessed, and you get a note if your Moon is near the edge of a sign.
Which mentor is best for astrology?
The Mystic, which meets you in your own cosmology. Every mentor can use your chart, though, and you can switch at any time in Settings, Your Mentor.
Is it free?
The chart and The Mystic are free. Writing is free, and every entry saves. The free plan includes 11 full mentor replies, then one reply every 7 days. No card is needed. The paid plan is $33 a month, $299 a year, or $9.99 a week.
