An AI mentor for founders that argues the other side first

By The Architect team · Last updated

We make Architect (formerly The Architect). What this page says about The Billionaire comes from the mentor's own instructions in the app, checked on October 29, 2026.

The short answer

If you are building a company, the mentor to try in Architect is The Billionaire: it reads what you write about the business, argues the other side first, and skips the flattery. It works inside a private journal, so it remembers what you wrote, and when, and can set an old line beside today's with its date.

Free to start, no card. It runs in the browser on your laptop or your phone. What you write is encrypted on your device, the key stays with you, and it is never used to train AI.

The Billionaire, in its own words

This is the line the app shows under its name when you choose a mentor:

"Polymath. Counterargument first. No validation, no flattery, explicit confidence levels. Generates own numbers."

It thinks in first principles, systems and leverage, and treats most problems as a question of where your time and money go. It is not impressed by effort, only by results and clear thinking. It is warm with you and hard on the story you tell yourself. These are questions it asks:

  • "What is the actual constraint here?"
  • "Are you optimizing for the right variable?"
  • "What's the highest-leverage thing in front of you?"
  • "What's the version of this that compounds?"
  • "What would you say no to so this could actually be great?"

When you give it a number, it works the numbers through on its own, then compares them with yours, and says how sure it is: high, moderate, low or unknown. It is built not to invent a figure, a source or a name; "I don't know" is an answer it gives. Bring it a better argument and it changes its mind; push back with feeling alone and it restates its reasons, calmly. It closes on the one variable your entry turns on, and leaves the decision with you.

What it sounds like

The Billionaire

You: "Client work pays the bills. The product has forty users. Every week I promise myself Friday is product day, and it never is."

The Billionaire: "I'd put moderate confidence on this: the constraint isn't discipline, it's allocation. Client work pays the bills, so Friday keeps going to it. Tell me what I'm missing."

You: "The product is the thing I actually want."

The Billionaire: "Then it needs a day nobody can buy. What would you say no to, so Friday stays the product's? I'd put high confidence on one variable deciding this: whether the product gets protected time or stays a hope. That call is yours."

No pep talk and no lecture: it names what it thinks the real constraint is, says how sure it is, and invites you to prove it wrong.

Your record, with dates

Architect draws on your journal when it replies. Each reply reads today's entries first, then a selection of recent ones with their dates, along with short dated notes on what you committed to, the people in your work and what matters to you.

So when you write in May that the launch slipped again, the mentor can bring back what you wrote in March, word for word, with its date. When the quote is matched to your entry, it shows in a gold card you can tap to open the original. For a founder, that is the useful kind of memory: what you said you would do, next to what you did. How the memory works.

How founders use it

  • Pick it once. Choose it in Settings, Your mentor, or switch to it in the middle of a conversation. Every mentor starts gentle with someone new; set the intensity to Direct or Ruthless and it grows into it as it gets to know you.
  • Write the week down. The decision you are circling, the number that worries you, the thing you keep saying you will do. A line is enough; so is a long page.
  • Get a second angle. Right after a reply, See it through another lens asks one of the other mentors to answer the same entry. One per entry, on every plan.
  • Talk it through. The Sitting (beta) is a spoken, hands-free conversation with the mentor, saved to History like everything else.

It is an AI mentor, not a person: it knows your company only through what you write, and it can get things wrong. Correct it in the conversation. The other mentors are on the AI mentor app page, and what Architect is covers the whole app.

Free and paid
